Table of Contents
1. Decorating eggs
This is of course a favourite over the Easter season and a long-held tradition in many countries. You can decorate the eggs and display them around the home and on the kitchen table, or hide them for your Easter egg hunt!
Set yourself and the kids up with an egg decorating station so your dye, glitter, paint and anything else is easy to access, and least likely to end up over precious floors and carpets! Help younger children with those slippery eggs, but older kids will be able to show off their artistic talents.
2. Footprint paint artwork
This is a lovely art craft project to do with younger children because their feet are so perfectly small and cute! It takes some practice but after some trial runs you will have a special keepsake piece of art for yourself or another member of the family.
Use non-toxic, safe, washable paint to cover the baby or toddler’s feet and then carefully press down (while they are standing) on paper or card. Write down their name and age, so everyone can look back fondly in the years to come.
You can even frame it and display it in your home. It makes a wonderful homemade gift for a new parent or grandparent.
To give it a really cute Easter themed appearance, use a special background such as this Easter bunny template which you can print again and again to give out as gifts, or to keep for yourself!
3. Easter collage art
This is a fun art project that will keep the little ones busy for ages and you might be tempted to join in too. Get a massive piece of paper or card to serve as a poster and have them stick on Easter themed items. You could even cut the poster to make it egg shaped.
They can cut out pictures from magazines and newspapers (eggs, rabbits), cut shapes out of coloured paper (eggs, animals) or do more foot and handprint art within the poster. Try to add lots of colour or texture such as old unused buttons, tissue paper, stickers, cotton wool or dry flowers.
The children can let their imaginations run wild, but of course younger children will need help and supervision and need to be kept away from small items and glue.
4. Family games
While the whole family is around (or even if it’s just the two of you) make the most of that quality time over the holidays to play some games and get competitive, in a friendly way of course!
Get out the board games if the weather isn’t great. But if it’s fine, then play outdoor games like tag in the garden or park. It’s great to get active outdoors with kids when the Spring weather arrives.
If you’re short on ideas and need games fast for the family at home or Easter parties, then grab this Easter themed games bundle of favourites such as trivia and puzzles to entertain all ages. Play solo, 1 on 1 or in teams! These games are great for school and childcare too.
5. Easter hunt
This could take the form of a good old-fashioned Easter egg hunt, indoors or out. If you have a garden then you can get creative with hiding spots to keep them guessing. Hide your decorated eggs, chocolate eggs or other goodies.
Another fun option is a scavenger hunt where your child/children have a list of items they need to find around the home. This is a good option if the weather is bad or you don’t have outdoor space. Print off your scavenger hunt and get the little detectives on the move!
6. Homemade greeting cards
Children can have fun making their own greeting cards for family, friends, or their teacher/daycare provider. It’s a lovely time to express our love and thanks with DIY cards for a personal touch.
It’s easy to make greeting cards or gift tags with card or paper. Decorate, draw or paint to make them colourful, happy cards for loved ones.
You can make full sized or mini greeting cards for daycare pals, school friends and teachers. Check out these cute bunny and chick themed Easter mini classroom cards! There’s even a freebie full sized card to download and print for a teacher, carer or family member.
7. Baking Easter treats
How about some yummy Easter themed baking? Bunny or chick shaped cookies, cupcakes or chocolate treats will all go down well with the kids over Easter.
The adult will have to take the lead in the kitchen, but even little ones can have fun mixing the batter and decorating cookies and cupcakes. Just be ready for some mess to clean up afterwards!
8. Easter basket
Much of the above can be special homemade gifts that can be presented well in an Easter basket.
Gather up cards, decorated eggs, homemade gifts, baked goods and more. Then make up an Easter basket they can present to family and friends, or make mini baskets or bags for parties!
This is a great way to bundle and showcase the results of all the creative Easter activities the children have made.

9. Easter puppet show
Easter is a fun time to put on a puppet show! If you don’t have any puppets, you can make sock or finger puppets and create a stage from a box or background on a table.
Older children can put on the puppet show, but if your children are younger, it will be down to you to provide the entertainment, but they will surely want to have a turn afterward!
10. Colouring-in fun
Colouring-in fun works for a wide range of ages, just have more complex stuff for the older ones. The toddlers won’t respect the lines!
There are a wide range of themes and ability levels when it comes to colouring-in books that will keep them busy for a long while. And of course Easter themed activity colouring-in books.
Don’t forget there are gorgeous colouring-in books for adults too. It’s a lovely way to relax and you can do it alongside your kids and have some quiet time (hopefully!).

Saving this post! Love these ideas and they will keep my son happy and entertained for a Saturday before Easter. Thank you for compiling these. I especially like the collage part. That’s really a fun activity if you have many nature-themed magazines with rabbits in them (which we do!).
